When you ask him what's his passion, smooth jazz guitarist Clifford Charles declares, "It's music or nothing!" Scores of Caribbean Jazz enthusiasts are convinced that he is set to take on the world. He has performed at many of the Caribbean Jazz festivals on the islands of St. Lucia and his native Trinidad and Tobago; sharing the stage with Randy Crawford, Joe Sample , Arturo Tappin and Errol Ince to name a few.
Although he lists Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian and T&T's Fitzroy Coleman among his influences, he credits, Jim Phillips (pannist) for introducing him to the soulful grooves of George Benson. For Clifford, jazz is the musical expression that brings the greatest satisfaction to both artiste and audience. We,at Radio KYSO, await his next ablum, as we understand it is going to have a calypso flavour.
